Eileen M. Smith, 71, of Sioux City died Saturday, November 29, 1997 at her residence of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, with the Rev. John W. Meyer officiating. The body was cremated.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel.

Mrs. Smith was born May 8, 1926 in Sioux City, the daughter of Rollie and Marie “Mae” (Hansman) Branch.

She graduated from Central High School in 1945. She married A.D. “Dan” Smith on June 2, 1949 in Muscatine, Iowa.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a former member of the Order of the astern Star. She was a homemaker and enjoyed bingo.

Survivors include her husband, a son, Daniel of Sioux City, four daughters, Karen “Sue” Lanctot of Missouri Valley, Iowa, Mary Ann Messick of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Judie Smith of Rocky River, Ohio and Debbie Smith of Byron Center, Michigan, 11 grandchildren, a great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Leonard L. and Willard, and a sister, Phyllis Wilson.

Memorial in her name may be directed to the American Lung Association or Hospice of Siouxland.
