Paul W. Heusinkveld, 76, of Sioux City died Wednesday, November 26, 1997 at a Sioux City hospital of a sudden illness.

Services will be at 9 a.m. Monday at St. James United Methodist Church with the Dr. Kenneth Peterson officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. today at the Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Funeral Home.

Mr. Heusinkveld was born October 26, 1921 in Sloan, Iowa, the son of Ben and Fannie (Usher) Heusinkveld. He moved, with his family to Sioux City as a young child. He graduated from East High School in Sioux City.

He married Rita M. Varner on July 6, 1944, in Sioux City.

He had worked at Sioux City Battery Factory, joined the Sioux City Transit Authority in 1957 and was a diesel mechanic until his retirement in 1986.

He was a member of St. James United Methodist Church.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

He belonged to bowling leagues for many years.

Survivors include his wife, four daughters, Jeanette and her husband, Keith Peters of Ft. Collins, Colorado, Gloria and her husband, David Olsen of Emmett, Idaho, Paulette and her husband, Ben Wiedemann of Mason City, Iowa and Claudia Heusinkveld of Clear Lake, Iowa, six grandchildren, Kevin, Davette, Paul, Douglas, Sarah and Heather, six great-grandchildren, two step-great-grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Cyril and Ruth of Oregon and two sisters, Margaret Mosier of Sioux City and Mary Hutsell of Indiana.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ruth Brown.
