Woodbury Pioneer Is Dead
Myron A. Clark Succumbs To Heart Trouble
Stricken In Los Angeles
Had Gone There for Health – Resident of County for Fifty-Six Years –To Sioux City in 1900 – Body Will Be Brought Here

Myron A. Clark, 61 years old, wealthy pioneer land owner of Morningside, who had been a resident of Woodbury County for fifty-six years, died suddenly yesterday morning following an attack of heart trouble at a Villa in Los Angeles, California, where he Had gone two months ago for his health.

Mrs. Tillie M. Clark, surviving widow, was at the bedside at the time of the death. The body will be brought back to Sioux City for burial.

Mr. Clark came with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Perry M. Clark from Scanton, Pennsylvania when he was 5 years old. The family first settled at Smithland, Iowa, where the original Clark farm was established.

Mr. and Mrs. Clark married in Sioux City.

In 1900 the family moved to Clark’s Place in Morningside and have resided there since. During his life Mr. Clark established the Smithland Bank, which he owned at the time of his death and took active part in the business world as an insurance and real estate dealer.

For several years he was chief agent for the Equity Mutual Insurance company and later established an insurance office of his own. He was prominent as a real estate man and accumulated considerable city and farm property in Sioux City, Woodbury County and different parts of Iowa and Nebraska.

He was a member of the Odd Fellows.

Four sons—Clyde C. Clark of Seattle, Washington, Harold B. Clark of 1761 South Paxton Street and George M. and Leonard R. Clark of Clark’s Place, Morningside – and one daughter, Mrs. Frank Heilman of Onawa, Iowa survive besides the widow. Three brothers—Henry Clark of Walla Walla, Washington, William Clark of Smithland, Iowa, C. F. Clark of Merrill, Iowa – and two grandchildren, Hazel and Clark Heilman of Onawa, Iowa, also survive.

Funeral arrangements have been held up pending arrival of the body from California.
