Steven Lewis Oehlerking, 69, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2018.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Visitation with the family will be 5:30 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Visitation will resume 10 a.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com.

Steven was born on May 27, 1949, in Sioux City, the son of Arnold and Marie (Hurlbut) Oehlerking. He graduated from Central High School in 1968 and received his bachelor’s degree in biology from Briar Cliff University. Steven was a veteran of the United States Air Force.

He married Brenda J. Nielson on June 30, 1986 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Sioux City. Steven's love of the land made him an excellent farmer and gardener.

He enjoyed being outdoors fishing or at his cabin on the pond. He was a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather, and will be missed by many. Steven was a member of the V.F.W.

Survivors include his beloved wife, Brenda J. Oehlerking; son, Steve Watson of Pueblo, Colo.; granddaughters: Lakota and Tallis Watson; and siblings, Karl Oehlerking, Eric and wife, Lauri Oehlerking, Fred and wife, Jacquelyn Oehlerking, George and wife, Susie Oehlerking, Ginny Lynns, and Mary and husband, Bob Swanson.

Steven was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathleen Thompson; and brother, Ray "Butch" Oehlerking.
