Heart Attack Halts Wedding

Word was received in Moville shortly before noon last Friday, April 30, 1953, of the sudden and unexpected death of John Bush, 70, who at the time of his death was making preparations for his marriage to Mrs. Anna Mullinnex. The couple had gone to Bethany, Missouri, earlier in the week, where their marriage was expected to be solemnized in the home of a sister of the latter. A three days notice of intention to wed was a requisite for obtaining a marriage license. Death was attributed to a heart attack.

Funeral service were held on Monday afternoon in the E.U.B. Church, with Rev. Carl Riggs, officiating. Music was furnished by a quartet composed of Mrs. Ben Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Voas and son, Donald, with Mrs. Rez Metcalf at the piano. The songs included ‘Blessed Assurance’, and ‘Beautiful Isle of Somewhere’.

Burial was in Arlington cemetery under the direction of McCulloch Funeral Home. Pallbearers were John Bremer, Henry Wood, Wm. Petersen, J.E. Anderson, Fred Strohbehn and Christ Petersen.

John C. Bush was born near Lawton, Ia., on November 14, 1883, and had spent most of his life in this vicinity.

He was united in marriage with Elfrieda Hansen at Moville, on February 27, 1908. His wife died in 1932. One daughter, Dorothy, also preceded him in death.

On October 3, 1935, Mr. Bush was married to Mrs. Alma Clausen at Flandreau, S.D. In June of 1938 they moved to Westbrook, Minn., where they made their home for 14 years. They returned to Moville to make their home in September of 1952. Mrs. Bush passed away August 7, 1953.

Survivors include three children, Mrs. George Roeschke (Minnie) of Lawton, Mrs. Douglas Wurscher (Joyce) of Walnut Grove, Minn., and Raymond E. Bush of Lawton; one brother, Ed Bush of LeMars, and three sisters, Mrs. Tillie Maack and Mrs. Henry Hopp, Sr., (Emma) of Moville and Mrs. Merrill Downing (Anna) of Concord, Calif. There are also ten grandchildren.
