Memorial services for James Robert ‘Jim’ Foster, 75, of Burbank, California, formerly of Moville, were held Saturday October 9, 1993 at 1:00 p.m. in the Good Shepherd Presbyterian at Los Alamitos, California.

Congregational Hymns included “How Great Thou Art’, ‘Amazing Grace’, and ‘The Lord’s Prayer’.

Mr. Foster was born September 23, 1918 in Moville, the son of Robert A. and Cora B. (Renneker) Foster. He graduated from Moville High School in 1935 and received a BS degree from Iowa State University in 1941. He received a medical discharge from the Third Armored Division, Camp Polk, Louisiana, in 1942. He received an MS degree from UCLA at Berkeley, California. He semi-retired after a long career with the Los Angeles County Health Department. He was a member of the Federated Church in Moville and was a Cub and Eagle Scout. He had been a Moville Township 4-H Calf Club member and taught vocational agriculture at Akron and Pella. He was a longtime member of the Purveyors Unit of Al Maleka Shrine, Los Angeles, and the Los Angeles County Federal Employees Credit Union.

He had owned and operated a dairy in Inglewood, California, and worked a brief time for Pacific Electric in that area. In retirement, he had been a flight observer for a national airline.

Mr. Foster died October 4, 1993 at a hospital in Panorama City, California, of brief illness.

Survivors include his wife, Joan, of Burbank, California; three stepsons, Scott Trebaol of Burbank, Vince and Roy Benstead of LaJolla and Seal Beach, California respectively; a sister, Ruth, of Lawton, Iowa; a brother, Ray, of Long Beach, California, and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Nicole.
