Funeral services held Wednesday for L. Wilfred Strong

Funeral services for L. Wilfred Strong, 92, 1209 Morningside Ave., Sioux City were held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, January 5 at the First Church of the Nazarene. The Rev. M.E. Barrows officiated. Burial was made in Graceland Park Cemetery under direction of the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside.

Pallbearers were Steve, Eugene and Merrill Stron, Rick and Don Linduski and Ray Hansen.

Mr. Strong, a retired feed salesman, died at a Sioux City nursing home Sunday evening after a brief illness.

Mr. Strong was employed as a salesman for Perkins Feed and Seed Co. for 29 years. He retired in 1965.

Mr. Strong was born Dec. 24, 1979 at Climbing Hill. He spent his boyhood there. In 1901, he moved to Elk Point, S.D. Four years later he returned to Climbing Hill where he has lived for the next 30 years.

He married Ora Mae Mohr in 1905. The couple moved to Sioux City in 1936. She died here May 11, 1970.

While residing in Climbing Hill, Mr. Strong was a school board member and an assessor in that area for many years. He was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene in Sioux City.

Survivors include three sons, Elwin C. of Barberton, Ohio; Paul M. of Sioux City and LaVerne W. of Wichita, Kan.; three brothers, Ray of Lawton; Kenneth of California and Clarence of Norfolk, Va.; eight grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
