Harry Hanner, 1892-1969

Harry ‘Jake’ Hanner, 76, 2112 Hamilton Blvd., died Tuesday at a Sioux City hospital after a long illness.

Mr. Hanner was born Nov. 5, 1892, at Williamsville, Ill., and came with his family to the Climbing Hill area as a young boy. He farmed in the Climbing Hill area until entering the Army in World War 1. Later, he worked as a carpenter and cabinet maker in Florida until retiring in 1958. He returned to live in Sioux City in 1968.

He married Salina Knudson in 1918 at Climbing Hill. She died in 1928. He married Margarette M. Luksan in 1938 at Dakota City. He was a member of the Lutheran faith and of American Legion Post 17, New Smyrna Beach, Fla.

Survivors include the widow; two sons, William of Houston, Tex., and Edward of Sioux City; a daughter, Mrs. Alvetta Goodrich of Oak Hill, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Paulena Smith of Mapleton, Iowa; five grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
