Services for Helen E. Devine held August 20

Helen E Devine, 84, of Sioux City, formerly of Climbing Hill, died Sunday, August 18, 2002, in Sioux City following a brief illness.

Services were at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, August 20, 2002 at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel. Burial was in Westfork Township Cemetery, Climbing, Hill.
Helen was born Oct. 23, 1917, in rural Anthon, Iowa, the daughter of Charley and Anna (Schlomer) Cornils.

She moved to Salix, Iowa, then to Climbing Hill, graduating from Climbing Hill High School in 1937. She later moved to Sioux City.

Helen married Lawrence Devine on Feb. 12, 1946. Mr. Devine died Oct. 10, 1990. She was employed with Palmer Candy Company, Albertson Tools and was also a homemaker.

Mrs. Devine was raised in the Lutheran faith. She enjoyed cards, crafts, needlepoint, crocheting, eating out as well as spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Survivors include a son, Larry Devine of Sioux City; a daughter and her husband, Judy and Don Wright of Sioux City; three grandchildren, Scott Wright, Stacy Ten Napel and Donell Wright; two great-grandchildren, Kyle Ten Napel and Kristen Ten Napel; and two sisters-in-law, Mildred Cornils and Marge Devine.

She also was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.
