Ethel Helen Clark Benton, 1891-1971

Sioux City Journal, Sioux City, Iowa

Mrs. Gordon Benton, 80, a former resident of Woodbury and Thurston Counties, died Wednesday in Los Angeles, Calif., after a long illness.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Pender, Neb., with the Rev. Mr. Mease officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery in Sioux City.

Mrs. Benton, the former Ethel Helen Clark, was born March 12, 1891 near Climbing Hill. She married Mr. Benton March 29, 1913, and they farmed in the Climbing Hill area until moving to Thurston county, Neb., in 1931.

Mr. Benton died in January 1955, and Mrs. Benton then moved to Sioux City and later California.

Survivors include three daughters, Miss Thelma Benton of Monterey Park, Calif., Mrs. Erwin (Jean) Norden of Pasadena, Calif., and Mrs. William (Gay) Bates of Pender; five grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Mary Goodrich of Mapleton, Iowa.
