Funeral Services Held Wed. For Mrs. W.W. Baird

Funeral services for Mrs. Wilbur W. Baird, 76, of Climbing Hill, were held Wedensday, January 13, 1982 at 1:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church in Climbing Hill. The Rev. Ray Stallons officiated. Interment was in West Fork Township, Climbing Hill, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.

Mrs. Leonard Hansen, vocalist, sang ‘Beyond the Sunset’ and ‘How Great Thou Art’. Mrs. Charles Hamm was Pianist.

Casketbearers were Messrs. Bob Arnold, Walter Davis, David Goodrich, Leo Groth, Lyle Groth and Wayne Suckstorf.

Mrs. Baird, the former Emma Elizabeth ‘Betty’ Zeglin, was born November 30, 1905, the daughter of Otto and Emma Roepke Zeglin, in rural Plymouth county. She graduated from Correctionville High School and taught in rural schools of Woodbury and Plymouth Counties for six years.

She married Wilbur W. Baird November 23, 1930, at Ida Grove. They lived on a farm near Climbing Hill. Mr. Baird died March 11, 1976. She entered the nursing home in March of 1981.

Mrs. Baird died Sunday, January 10, 1982 in a Sioux City nursing home.

Survivors include one son, Warren, rural Moville; two daughters, Mrs. Phil (Delores) Hummel of Moville and Mrs. George (Virginia) Dunn of Morgan, Minnesota; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Chris (Amanda) Camarigg of Sheldon and Mrs. Basil (Hattie) Bappe of Holstein.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, Fred, three sisters, Mrs. Adolph (Lillian) Lohse, Mrs. Thomas (Agnus) Rhodes and Mrs. Alvin (Elsie) Camarigg.
