Clifford Card, Jr, 1934-1996

The Sioux City Journal,

Climbing Hill, Iowa – Clifford Card Jr., 61, Climbing Hill, a former Sioux City resident, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 2, 1996, at a Sioux City hospital emergency room.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the First Church of the Nazarene in Sioux City with the Rev. Fred Morrison officiating. Burial will be in Westfork, Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill. Visitation will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the Christy, Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home.

Mr. Card was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Sioux City, the son of Clifford E. and Marjorie F. Card.

He married Darla Mae Surber April 15, 1972, in Sioux City until moving to Climbing Hill in 1974. He worked for Armour & Co. until its closing. He then worked at Floyd Valley Packing Co. until retiring in 1992 due to poor health. He later worked part time at the former Dizzy’s Diner in Sioux City He enjoyed camping.

Survivors include his wife; a daughter and her husband, Rebecca and Rich Armstrong of Richmond, Mo.; four grandchildren, Carmon Marie Gooseman, Nikki Jo Armstrong, Ricky Lee Armstrong II and Timothy John Card; a sister and her husband, Betty and Don Ensley of Sioux City; a niece and nephew

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Tim Card.

Pallbearers will be Jim Ferdig, Charles and Clark Isom, Bill Dorrah Sr., Bill Dorrah Jr., Josh Grey, Dave waterman and Jack Lobdell.
