Funeral Services Held For Clarence Beaver
Funeral services for Clarence Abraham Beaver, 77, of Climbing Hill, were held Saturday, October 25, 1980 at 10:00 a.m. in the First Baptist Church at Climbing Hill. The Reverends Ray Stallons and Clayton Allen officiated. Interment was in West Fork Township Cemetery, Climbing Hill, under the direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home of Moville.
Mrs. Howard Smith, vocalist, sang ‘Nearer My God To Thee’. Mrs. Keith Steinhauer was organist.
Casketbearers were Messrs. Dennis and Randal Beaver, Daniel and David Bromander, Danny Dean, Danny Harmes and Jeff Petersen.
Mr. Beaver was born October 16, 1903, in rural Woodbury County, the son of Aaron and Alminda Winteringer Smith Beaver. He attended rural school.
He married Lola Lucille Custer September 1, 1926, at Sioux City. They farmed in the Climbing Hill area until 1954 when they moved into town. He and his son operated a feed store in Climbing Hill since 1949. He was also employed by the ASCS for 12 years.
He attended the First Baptist Church of Climbing Hill.
Mr. Beaver died Wednesday, October 22, 1980 at a Sioux City hospital of long illness.
Survivors include the widow; one daughter, Mrs. Gerald (Norma Jean) Bromander of Sloan; one son, Leonard ‘Bud’ of rural Anthon; two sisters, Mrs. Jesse (Katie) Ellis of Sioux City and Mrs. Lloyd (Valera) Dawdy of Le Mars; two brothers, Daniel of Fort Dodge and Bennie of Sioux City; nine grandchildren; and five great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Mrs. Elias (Edna) Stratton and Mrs. Bert (Jessie) Graw, and three granddaughters.
