Alice E Hill Corrie, 1900-1986

Alice E. Corrie, 86, 1415 S. Mulberry St., died Friday at Countryside Retirement Home after a long illness.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church with the Rev. Charles E. Curl officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation is from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. today at Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Corrie, the former Alice E. Hill, was born March 20, 1900, near Moville. She grew up near Climbing Hill and graduated from Moville High School. She attended Morningside High School. She attended Morningside College then taught rural school for a couple of years prior to her marriage. She married Harry G. Corrie on Mach 17, 1920, in Climbing Hill. The couple farmed in the Anthon area until moving to Sioux City in 1945. Mr. Corrie died Aug. 3, 1954, in Sioux City. Mrs. Corrie moved to Sioux Falls in 1981 and back to Sioux City one week ago.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, and its Wesleyan Circle and Homemakers Club. She was also a member of the Sioux City Quota Club and a former member of Sioux City Women’s Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. James (Doris) Buresh of Marshalltown, and Mrs. Donald (Carol) Fountain of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Clara Baird in California, and Mrs. Alma Hennings of Moville; one brother and Hill of Storm Lake; 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in Mrs. Corrie’s name with Grace United Methodist Church.
