Bronson, Iowa – Alice I. Brown, 84, of Bronson died Sunday, Dec. 26, 1993, at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson with the Rev. Robert E. Peters officiating. Burial will be in Banner Township Cemetery, Lawton, Iowa. Visitation will be 10 a.m. until 9 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Christy Morningside Funeral Home.

Mrs. Brown was born April 7, 1909, in Woodbury County, the daughter of Charles and Bertha (Sheets) Shoemaker. A lifelong Bronson area resident, she graduated from Bronson High School in 1928 and received a teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls. She taught in rural country school near Bronson and later in town. She continued to teach after the consolidation of the Lawton-Bronson school district. She married Elmer M. Brown June 5, 1935, in Bronson. He died Jan. 24, 1982, in Sioux City.

Mrs. Brown was a member of Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church and Ladies Aid and was a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was a former 4-H leader and a member of Royal Neighbors and Bronson Birthday Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Wayne (Dianne) Schlotman and Mrs. Dave (Lynnelle) Amick, both of Bronson; five grandchildren, Jerry and Rob Schlotman and Cyndi, Jamie and Michelle Amick; and a great grandson, Brandon Amick.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Paul; a sister, Florence; and an infant son.

Pallbearers will be Randy Amick, Ron Lewon, Jon Hess, Dennis Simmons, Terry Amick and Gene Kollbaum.
