Veteran School Board Member at Moville Dies

Alfred ‘Skip’ cornils, 57, a Moville farmer and longtime school board member, died unexpectedly Sunday evening. He was pronounced dead at a Sioux City hospital after he was stricken at his home.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Moville. The Rev. L.C. Jensen will officiate. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery, Moville, under direction of the McCulloch Funeral Home.
Mr. Cornils was a member of the Climbing Hill Board of Education for more than 15 years and the past seven years was a member of Woodbury Central Community Board of Education.

He was born Jan. 11, 1912, on a farm seven miles southeast of Moville. He lived there all his life. He was graduated from Moville High School. He married Mrs. Maxine Pries van Norman Feb 21, 1946, at Moville, and they lived on the farm where he was born.

He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and a member of the church council for a number of years.
He also was a member of the board of directors of the Farmers Co-op Elevator, Hornick.

Survivors include the widow; a son, Marc Cornils of Iowa City, Iowa; two step-sons, Gary Van Norman of Rapid City, S.D., and Danny Van Norman of Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Al E. (Laura) Hansen of Minneapolis and Mrs. Walter (Lucie) Conklin of Sioux City; and three step-grandchildren.
