Deborah Ekeland, 62, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Sioux City, passed away in her home Sunday, May 27, 2018, after a brave fight against cancer.

A celebration of Deb’s life will be 2 p.m. today at Temple Judah, 3221 Lindsay Ln SE, in Cedar Rapids. Arrangements are under the direction of Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids. Please leave a message for the family on our web page www.cedarmemorial.com under obituaries.

Deb grew up in Sioux Falls, S.D., where she began riding and training horses at the age of 11. She graduated from the University of Northern Colorado with a degree in art history, and spent her career as a teacher of art and horseback riding. She married Ron Levine in 1983, and enjoyed 30 years of marriage and raising their daughter.

Deb was an incredible artist, horse woman, teacher, and mother. Her generous and selfless nature touched everyone around her, and her giving spirit will live on in her many friends and family.

Deb will be lovingly remembered by her father, Norman; brother, Robert (Kari); and daughter, Rachel (Trey).

Deb was preceded in death by her mother, Muriel.
