Lonnie Lee Parrill, was born on June 25, 1940, on a farm near Bloomfield, to Ross and Doris (North) Parrill. He graduated from Bloomfield High School in 1958 and attended Wayne State College for three semesters before enlisting in the U.S. Army. He was in the Army for two years with service in South Korea as a helicopter mechanic. After leaving the military, Lonnie worked at the Farmers Union in Wausa, Neb.

Lonnie met Donna Mae Andree in Yankton, S.D., where they were united in marriage on Oct. 23, 1965. To this union two children were born, Wendy Sue and Douglas Allen. They moved to Sioux City in 1968, where Lonnie worked for Iowa Public Service (Mid-American Energy) as a computer systems analyst for 31 years, retiring in 1999.

Lonnie and Donna were both amateur radio operators and were both members of the Sooland Amateur Radio Association. Lonnie was also a member of the Coast Guard Auxiliary. Through these two organizations Lonnie made a lot of cherished friendships and held conversations with hundreds of people via radio from around the world.

Lonnie was blessed to find love again and married Janice (Nelsen) Byroad on June 17, 2002 in Las Vegas, Nev. They made their home in Hubbard, where they spent time gardening and enjoying their blended family. Their first years together were spent going camping, fishing, traveling to music festivals and taking a dream vacation to Europe. They also spent several winters in Mesa, Ariz. enjoying the warmth and retirement until Lonnie could no longer travel due to Parkinson's Disease.
