Joyce L. Butler, 79, of Sergeant Bluff, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018, at a local care facility.

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Friday at Waterbury Funeral Service of Sioux City, 4125 Orleans Ave.

Joyce Lorraine Butler was born on July 8, 1938, in Del Rapids, S.D., the daughter of Robert L. and Agnes (Nold) Gill. She graduated from Sergeant Bluff High School in 1956. In 1957, she married Robert Butler in Sergeant Bluff. They later divorced. Joyce was a cashier at Sioux Harbor for 26 years.

She enjoyed shopping at the mall and hanging out with her former high school friends.

Joyce is survived by her daughter, Julie (David) Masonbrink; one sister-in-law, Linda (Carl) Gill-Kelso; a niece, Robin Gill; four grandchildren, Bobby Hike, Rebecca (Josh) Dvorak, Dustin (Jennifer) Hike, and Jena Hike; five great-grandchildren, Madison, Ethan, Matthew, Elaina, and Jessy; and her significant other, Bill Richardson.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Gregg Butler; and one brother, Robert Gill.
