John K. Irvine Dies After Brief Illness

Treasurer Knapp & Spencer Company Succumbs to Heart Disease

John K. Irvine, treasurer of the Knapp & Spencer Company, died at his home, 2900 Jones Street, early this morning, following a short illness. Heart disease was the cause of his death.

Born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1872, Mr. Irvine spent his early boyhood in that country. At a youthful age he came with his parents to Rochester, N.Y. and later moved to Chicago.

Coming to Sioux City from Chicago, in 1904, Mr. Irvine accepted a position of credit manager for the firm. He was promoted to treasurer of the company a few years later, which position he held at the time of his death.

Mr. Irvine was a member of the Presbyterian Church.

Surviving him are his widow, two minor children and one sister, Miss Mary Irvine of Chicago.

Funeral arrangements have not yet been made. The body is being held at West’s Funeral Home.
