Frank L. Hagan Is Claimed By Death
Succumbs To Leakage Of The Heart
Was Well Known Citizen
Came to City 40 Years Ago—Was Proprietor of Washington House for More than 30 Years—Candidate for Sheriff in 1916

Frank L. Hagan, a resident of Sioux City for 40 years, died shortly after midnight last night. Leakage of the heart was the cause of his death.

Mr. Hagan was born in Dubuque, Iowa, July 17, 1863 and came to Sioux City when he was 19 years of age.

For a number of years he operated a dray line. Later he became proprietor of the Washington House, which was under his management for more than 30 years.

An active interest in municipal and county politics was taken by Mr. Hagan and in 1916 he was candidate for sheriff on the democratic ticket. He was a member of the Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and of Sioux City Lodge, No. 112, B.P.O.E.

Mr. Hagan had been suffering from leakage of the heart for many months and Wednesday became critically ill. He was taken from his home, 1718 Jackson Street, to St. Joseph’s hospital, where he died.

Surviving him are his widow, six brothers, A.W. Hagan, V.J. Hagan, John Hagan, C.P. Hagan, E.P. Hagan, all of Sioux City and James Hagan of Long Pine, Nebraska and three sisters, Mrs. John Garvey of Los Angeles, California; Mrs. W.C. Close of Torrance, California and Mrs. Galivaux of Waterloo, Iowa.
