Ralph P. Juneman 1916 – 2001

Sloan, Iowa – Ralph P. Juneman, 84, of Sloan died Wednesday, April 25, 2001, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting, Iowa.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Salix, Iowa. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil services at 7:30 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Wood Funeral Home in Sloan.

Mr. Juneman was born October 28, 1916, in St. Cloud, Minnesota, the son of Peter and Theresa (Blisenbach) Juenemann. He graduated from St. Cloud High School.

He married Florence Butala on July 20, 1940, in Crookston, Minnesota. The couple lived in East Grand Forks, Minnesota, where he managed the Robertson Lumberyard. In 1945, they moved to Sloan and established the Juneman Hardware Store.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. He started the Sloan Commercial Club, was president of the museum, a member of the city council, an officer of the first Sloan Department committee, charter member of Sloan Golf Course and member of the National Association of Woodcarvers. He taught woodcarving to the Boy Scouts.

Survivors include his wife; two sons and their wives, Roger Michael and Karen Juneman of Park Ridge, Illinois and Donald and Gloria Juenemann of Lenexa, Kansas, four grandchildren, Kris and Michael Juneman, Stephanie Juenemann and Jennifer Bingham, two great-grandchildren, a brother, Herman Juenemann of St. Cloud and a twin sister, Loyola Cleary of Fresno, California.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Angeline Helterline; five brothers, Al, George, Leo, Norbert and Leonard Juenemann, and three brothers in infancy.
