ANTHON, Iowa -- Mamie "Masel" Brown, 90, of Anthon passed away Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Indian Hills Nursing and Rehab Center in Sioux City.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Glenn Littrell officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Grandma Brown, as her family called her, was born Dec. 6, 1913, to Jesse Lee and Cora (Yates) Cox. She married Charles Alex Brown on Jan. 26, 1935, in Sioux City. Alex passed away Jan. 16, 1986.

She enjoyed her home and her farms near Anthon, gardening, animals, cooking and especially her immediate and extended family and friends. She was a lifelong resident of the Siouxland area.

She is survived by a son and his wife, C. Ray and Marcia Brown of Sioux City; a grandson and his wife, Stephen and Michelle Brown of Omaha; two granddaughters, Brenda (Brown) and her husband, Thomas Kellen of Dillon, Colo., and Christina Brown and her fiance, Andy Sweany of Portland, Ore.; three great-grandchildren, Camille Dian and Alec Stephen Brown of Omaha and Benjamin Thomas Kellen of Dillon, Colo.; two sisters, Maurine Solomon of Sioux City and Darlene Guerin of Tucson, Ariz.; and extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; three brothers, Bill, Jay and Emmett Cox; and three sisters, Mildred Peters, Grace Stusse and Gertrude Dahlman.

Pallbearers will be C. Ray and Marcia Brown, Stephen and Michelle Brown, Brenda and Thomas Kellen, Christina Brown and Andy Sweany.
A memorial fund has been established in her name in care of the family.
