Mrs. William (Margaret) Steinhauer 1859 – 1939

Mrs. William H. Steinhauer, 80, Climbing Hill, Iowa, resident of Woodbury County the last 45 years died Sunday in her home after an illness of six weeks.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Climbing Hill Baptist Church. Rev. M.L. Metcalf will officiate and burial in a Climbing Hill Cemetery will be directed by the W. Harry Christy Funeral Home in Morningside. The casket will be opened before the altar of the church for an hour before services.

Mrs. Steinhauer was born February 21, 1859, in Ohio. She moved to Logan County, Illinois, when a child and was married to Mr. Steinhauer in Lincoln, Illinois, January 15, 1883. She moved to Woodbury County in 1894 and had resided in Climbing Hill the last 16 years. She was a member of the German Lutheran Church in Illinois and an active member of the Ladies Aid Society of the Climbing Hill Baptist Church.

Survivors include her widower, two sons, Floyd and Arthur, both of Climbing Hill, a daughter, Mrs. C.O. McClaren of Climbing Hill, two brothers, Will Hanner of Climbing Hill and George Hanner of Williamsville, Illinois, two sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth Bock of Williamsville and Mrs. Sophia Kendell of Hornick, Iowa, 12 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
