Bert S. Van Slyke Died 1939

Bert S. Van Slyke, 2115 Pierce, died late Tuesday after having suffering a stroke Monday. He was the father of Mrs. Carrol N. Smith, and of Emmett Van Slyke, manager of the Lewis system.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, with the Miller Funeral Home there in charge.

Mr. Van Slyke was a member of the Shrine, Eastern Star and other Masonic groups in Sioux Falls and of the United Commercial Travelers. He was secretary of the Sioux Falls board of education more than 20 years.

Survivors include his widow, Emma, a son, Emmett; two daughters, Mrs. Smith and Grace and a brother, Eugene C. of New York.
