Bruce Arthur Hardy, 70, of Sioux City died Sunday, January 29, 2006, at a Sioux City hospital following a pulmonary embolus.

Memorial services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with Lorna Peters, Chaplin at St. Luke’s Regional Medical Center officiating. Burial will be at a later date. There will be no visitation.

Mr. Hardy was born October 7, 1935 in Sioux City. He graduated from Central High School and obtained a civil engineering degree from Iowa State University. He served as an officer in the U.S. Navy.

He married Suzanne Kaufman on September 6, 1958, in Wilmette, Illinois. The couple were married for nearly 30 years until Suzanne’s death from ovarian cancer on April 23, 1988.

He had lived in Sioux City, Glenview, Illinois, Wilmette, Illinois and returned to Sioux City. He worked as an engineer in the city of Chicago until his retirement at the age of 52, in 1988.

He was a member of the Siouxland Senior Center and Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity in college. He was an avid duplicate bridge player.

Survivors include a daughter, Beth Pernice of Geneva, Illinois; two sons, Thomas Randall Hardy of Glenview, Illinois and Stephen Bruce Hardy of Medina, Ohio, 10 grandchildren, Nicholas and Alexander Pernice, Suzanne, William, John, Geoffrey and Sam Hardy of Medina, Ohio and Thomas, Kate and Allison Hardy of Glenview, Illinois and his beloved companion, Delores Bogenrief of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Arthur S. Hardy and his mother, Viola S. Hardy.
