Lorne Shook, 89, of Sioux City died Monday, July 4, 2005, at a Sioux City hospital.

Memorial services will be 2:30 p.m. Friday at Crescent Park United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Michelle L. Williamson officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Mr. Shook was born July 17, 1915, in Cherokee, Iowa, the son of Ernest and Izetta (Stokes) Shook.

He married Dorothy L. Draper on Dec. 7, 1936, in Vermillion, S.D. She preceded him in death on March 3, 1996, in Sioux City. He worked for Lee and Lewis Electric for several years. More recently, he was employed with Casler Electric, retiring from there in 1982.

He was a charter member of the Missouri River Boat Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed boating.

Survivors include a son, Gary Shook of Windsor, Colo.; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Shook of Sioux City; a sister, Maxine Sorensen of Hubbard, Iowa; six grandsons and their wives, Dr. Steve and Marcia Shook of Sioux City, David and Dawn Shook of Great Falls, Mont., Mark and Toni Shook of Sioux City, Jim and Mary Shook of Sioux City, Jeff and Shannon Shook of Littleton, Colo., and Larry and Renee Shook of Windsor, Colo.; 17 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a son, Allan Shook; a sister, Letha Derochie; two brothers, Lee and Clair Shook; a daughter-in-law, Carolyn Shook; and a great-granddaughter, Amber Shook.
