Gary Duane Amick, 61, Jefferson City, Mo., formerly of Lawton, Iowa, passed away unexpectedly at the home of his daughter in Boise, Idaho, Sunday, July 10, 2005.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at the Houser-Millard Funeral Directors -- Jefferson City Chapel. Interment will be in the Hawthorn Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Amick was born Sept. 12, 1943, to Donald and Amelia (Van Buskirk) Amick in Lawton, Iowa. He married Cindy Van Voorst on Sept. 13, 1974.

He graduated from high school in Lawton and received his bachelor of arts degree in theology from Union College in Lincoln, Neb., and later earned his master's degree. He was currently working on his doctorate degree through Atlanta Bible College. Gary had been pastor, teacher and leader in several different churches. At the time of his death, he was serving the General Council -- Church of God Seventh Day as manager and publishing editor.

Survivors include his wife; three daughters, Kimberly Stafford, Jefferson City, Tammy Amick and Carissa Amick, both of Boise, Idaho; two grandchildren, Brenden and Alexandra Stafford, both of Jefferson City; his father, Donald Amick, Sioux City; two sisters, Hope Duffy, Perry, Iowa, and Wendy Magnussen, Sioux City; and several nieces and nephews

He was preceded in death by his mother, Amelia Amick, and an older sister, Sandra Jorgenson.
