Jesse was born March 25, 1949, the eighth of nine children of the late Isaac and Evelyn (Rouillard) James. He spent most of his life in Sioux City, living briefly in Merced, California, and Panama.

He loved life and the anticipation of what each day had in store for him. He had a passion for meeting people and making friends. In 1968 he proudly served in the U.S. Army as a military policeman, stationed at the Panama Canal. He briefly served with the 185th National Guard.

Jesse had a variety of jobs, working several years at Stone Container. He was an entrepreneur, owning the Jesse James Limousine Service and operated the Jesse James Cross Town. Blues was his favorite music. He loved to play pool and the New York Yankees was his team.

In 1979 he married Sondra Preston. They later divorced.

Left to cherish his memory are his sisters Eleanor and Darrel Crosser of Cottonwood, Ariz., Doris Shields of Merced, Joan and Harvey Rafael of Chowchilla, Calif., Margaret and Pete Brelard of Sioux City and Donna and Greg Muecke of Hinton, Iowa; a brother Cliff and Jean James of Sioux City; a stepson Steve Craig of Council Bluffs, Iowa; a sister-in-law Nancy James of Sioux City and many nieces and nephews.

Greeting Jess in heaven are his parents, two brothers Harry and Larry James, two nephews Krage Powell and Stacey Conley and his beloved pets Dudley, Missy and Maggie.

Pallbearers will be Mike Bloomberg, Paul James, Steve Craig, Joe Lower, Eric Lund and Doug Sherrill.

Jess was pure gold. We love you Jesse.
