Medora Anna Liggins, 93, of Fillmore, Calif., formerly of Sioux City, died Sunday, July 17, 2005, at Community Memorial Hospital in Venture, Calif.

Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel in Sioux City, with the Rev. Deona Lilly officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 9 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.

Medora was born Nov. 18, 1911, to Wilbur and Anna (Johnson) Dodge. She grew up and attended Sioux City public schools and graduated from East High School.

She married Richard Lilly on March 3, 1931, in Sioux City. The couple made their home here and raised two children. The family moved to California in 1959. Mr. Lilly died Feb. 1, 1986. She later married Alfred Liggins on Aug. 6, 1988, in Fillmore, Calif. He died Dec. 16, 1995. Medora was employed by the U.S. government as a production clerk for the U.S. Air Force for 25 years.

She was a 61-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Elk Point Chapter and was a past Worthy Matron; a 50-year member of the Daughters of the Nile; a former member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Sioux City and First United Methodist Church in Fillmore. Her hobbies included knitting, crocheting and reading. Medora was a very good bowler and loved to ice skate when she lived at McCook Lake, S.D.

Survivors include two daughters, Connie Lee and her husband, Merlow Anderson of Sparks, Nev., and Deona Lilly of Fillmore, Calif.; two sisters, Theda Jennings and Ida and her husband, Oran Wells, all of Yuma, Ariz.; a brother William and his wife, Dorothy Dodge of Sioux City; two grandchildren, Robin Anderson of Sacramento, Calif., and Debra Hansen of Sparks; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands, Richard Lilly and Alfred Liggins; and a daughter in infancy, Barbara Ann Lilly.
