Henry Andrew "Red" Hollinger, 92, of Roy, Utah, formerly of Woodbury County, Iowa, is now free of pain and suffering, having passed away following a long and valiant struggle, with his Elsie at his side.

Graveside services were held in Leavitt's Aultorest Memorial Park in Ogden, Utah. Condolences may be sent online at www.leavittsmortuary.com.

Mr. Hollinger was born April 7, 1913, in Owego, Woodbury County, Iowa, the son of Samuel Leo Hollinger and Agnes Mary (Baxter) Hollinger. He grew up in Woodbury County. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard the hospital ship USS Relief during World War II. He passed through the Panama Canal, traveling to many ports and places from the East Coast, where he received his disability. He moved to Montana as a young man, a place he dearly loved, making the west his home, having been in all the western states but Utah.

He married Emaline Hardwick Clements on May 6, 1968. She preceded him in death on Dec. 23, 1998. He retired in Reno, Nev., and moved to Caldwell, Idaho, on Oct. 1, 1985, where as an enthusiastic hunter and fisherman and auction buff. He enjoyed the mountains and streams to the utmost.

He moved to Roy, Utah, on Oct. 24, 2002, where he reunited, after 60 years, with Elsie "Schatzi" (Glover) Peterson, also of Iowa.

Mr. Hollinger was a statuesque and responsible man with a keen and intelligent, specific and creative mind and a memory like no other.

Survivors include his Schatzi, Elsie; a brother, Marvin of Omaha; a great-nephew, Steve Craig of Reno, Nev.; three special people, the Burks brothers; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Marguerite, Clara Sams, Anna Craig and Pansy Stonehocker, who died June 1, 2005; and four brothers, Ronald, Chris, Richard and Leo.
