Edward R. Franks Jr., 69, of Glendale, Ariz., formerly of Sioux City, passed peacefully away from earth to the Lord Sunday, July 17, 2005, surrounded by his family.

A family memorial services will be in the fall in Iowa.

Born and raised in Sioux City, most recently having lived in Flagstaff and Glendale, Ariz., he was a veteran who took pride in serving his country.

He was fascinated by the cosmos and space, loved golf, the simple things in life and had a special love for his family.

Survivors include a son and his wife, Chris and Jeanette Franks; a daughter and her husband, Jenny and John Brown; his mother, Pearl Franks; a brother and his wife, Jim and Judy Franks; three sisters and their husbands, Kay and Darrold Harder, Katy and Ron Stephen and Susan and Leroy Kotula; the three lights of his life, his grandchildren, Breana Franks, Kaylee Franks and John David Brown; and many nieces and nephews.
