ANTHON, Iowa -- Kenneth H. Sorber, 60, of Anthon died Monday, July 18, 2005, at his residence near Anthon.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Armstrong Funeral Home in Anthon, with the Rev. Jeff Whitt officiating. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at the funeral home.

Kenneth Howard Sorber was born Feb. 5, 1945, in Winner, S.D., the son of Howard and Helen (Brumbaugh) Sorber. He graduated from Colome High School in Colome, S.D., with the class of 1963.

On April 2, 1966, he was united in marriage to Karen Jerred in Winner, S.D. They settled on a farm for five or six years, during which time he developed an interest in agronomy. With a focus on that interest, he developed the process and designed the equipment to detoxify sulfuric acid. For health reasons he became a consultant in his business. He then became intrigued with the furniture and cabinetry business, especially in their custom design.

In September 1998, the couple moved to rural Anthon. In the past several months, he grew very close to his Lord which has resulted in a magnificent difference in himself and his family.

Those survivors left to cherish their memories of him include his wife of 39 years, Karen; a son and his wife, Kevin and Anne (Verbeck) of Exeter, N.H.; a daughter and her husband, Lori and Roy Trevino of Orange City, Iowa; his mother, Helen Sorber of Colome, S.D.; a sister, Sharon Bertram of Colome, S.D.; and four grandchildren, Gaetan, Graeson and Alaena Trevino and Grant Sorber.

He was preceded in death by his father.
