Joellen E. Long, 84, of Sioux City, died Friday, March 23, 2018, in her home.

Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Sioux City, with the Rev. Elaine Miller officiating. Light refreshments will be served following the service. Visitation will be noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.

Joellen was born on Aug. 8, 1933, in Sioux City, the daughter of Joseph and Grace (Bruley) Gaylor. Joellen grew up in Sioux City, and attended Central High School.

She was married to Joseph A. Long on July 22, 1950, at Mayflower Congregational United Church of Christ in Sioux City. Joellen was a lifelong deacon and member of their church, honored in 1997.

Her hobbies included golf, going to Las Vegas, bowling, rodeo horse shows, family camping trips, and playing cards, but, most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. She enjoyed attending her grandchildren’s events and visits from her great-grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Candice and her husband, Randy Bohl of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Denise and her husband, Mike Mitchell of Omaha, Cynthia and her husband, Steve Hope of Omaha, Jan and her husband, Mike Frerichs of Hinton, Iowa, and Nan and her husband, Frank Feese of Sioux City; six grandchildren, Corey Ayers (Kasey), Tucker Long (Stephanie), Alex Kirts, Cassie Young (Shaun), Kate Stevens (Sean), and Levi Frerichs; and seven great-grandchildren.

Joellen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; and an infant son, Joseph.
