Charles John "Chuck" Lamkin, 62, of Overland Park, Kan., formerly of Sioux City, died Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at his home following a brief illness.

A celebration of his life will be 4 p.m. today at McGilley & Hoge Memorial Chapel in Overland Park.

The son of Romain (Eddie) and Margaret Lamkin, Chuck was born on July 22, 1955. He was a graduate of Bishop Heelan High School and St. Luke’s School of Nursing in Sioux City. In 1982, Chuck moved to Overland Park, and spent his career in nursing. He was drawn to psychiatric care, where he found a special gift for working with troubled youth and young adults.

Chuck had three sons, Andrew "Andy" and Cameron, both of Overland Park, and Matthew of Independence, Mo. Chuck was quick-witted with a great sense of humor. He loved spending time with his friends, listening to great rock and roll music, and being with his family, especially his two grandchildren, Morrison and Marcellus.

He is survived by his sons; daughter-in-law, Meghan (Matthew), two grandchildren; brother, Mark Lamkin of Phoenix, Ariz.; and sister, Rita (Lamkin) Hendrickson of Rochester, Minn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brother-in-law, John Hendrickson.
