Services For Maj. Gen. Fred Miller To Be Held Today

Funeral services will be held at Manchester, Iowa today for Maj. Gen. Fred Miller, a former Sioux Cityan who died Monday, according to information received by friends here.

Gen. Miller, a retired army officer, resided here about 1926. At that time he was the regular army officer in charge of the inspection of National Guard units and lived at the Stellart apartments.

He was a captain in World War 1 and was with the army of occupation stationed at Coblenz. Following the return of the forces from overseas he became chief of Gen. George S. Patton’s staff. At the outbreak of World War 2, Gen. Miller was unable to accompany his chief overseas on account of a heart affliction. He was retired at that time.

During the early part of the War he was stationed at Fort Benning, Georgia in charge of officer training. In recent years his home had been at Manchester.

Accompanied by his wife he was a guest of Mr. and Mrs. William Wachter about two weeks ago.
