Daniel Dale Barnes, 47, of Duarte, California, formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, March 24, 1997, at his residence following a brief illness.

Memorial services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Good Shepherd Cemetery in Huntington Beach, California. Arrangements are under the direction of the Douglas and Zook Funeral Home in Monrovia, California.

Mr. Barnes was born December 8, 1949 in Sioux City. He attended Sioux City schools and had served in the U.S. Air Force. He was a design engineer and had lived in California for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife, Valerie Barnes; a daughter, Shannon Marie Stuart of Canyon Lake, California, a son, James Francis Barnes of Quail Valley, California; his mother, Celesta Sitzman Barnes of Huntington Beach; two brothers, Dean Virgil Barnes of Mission Viejo, California and Ron Barnes of Philadelphia; two sisters, Roxann Keiter of Alpine, California and LeeAnn Saldate of Canyon Lake and two granddaughters, Danielle and Lindsay Stuart.
