He attended Sioux City Public Schools, and graduated from Benson High School in Omaha. Jeff enlisted in the U.S. Army following graduation. He was a radar man stationed in Chicago, Ill., during the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Jeff was later stationed in Germersheim, Germany, where he met his wife, Barbara. They were married in Omaha on Oct. 17, 1965. Jeff worked as a machinist at All Power. He retired in 2001 due to his multiple sclerosis.

Due to his mobility issues, the computer and TV were a godsend for him. He was a kind and gentle man. Jeff was a good listener and his wise words will be missed.

Jeff is survived by his wife, Barbara (Zoeppel) of Sioux City; twin daughters, Stephanie (Steve) Maurer of Sioux City, and Natalie (Stacy Butts) Highman of Omaha; grandchildren, Danielle and Cory Maurer of Boulder, Colo.; and sister, Alexandra Sprague of Sioux City.
