J. “Belle” Kennett

Salix, Iowa— J. “Belle” Kennett, 98, of Salix, died Thursday, May 18, 1989 at Sergeant Bluff.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan, with the Rev. Stanley R. Long officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery in Sioux City. Visitation begins 1 p.m. Sunday, with family present from 7 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

She was born September 18, 1890 on a farm near Salix, the daughter of Cyr and Dolly Jane (Galland) Sheets and married Charles S. Kennett March 3, 1908 in Salix. They were lifetime residents of the Salix area. He died March 17, 1960 in Sioux City.

She was a member of the united Methodist Church in Salix.

Survivors are one son, Charles Stanley Kennett of Santa Fe Springs, California, four daughters, Mrs. David (Eva) Dunn and Mrs. Harold (Lila Belle) Terrell, both of Salix and Mrs. George (Edith) Gravatt and Mrs. Louis (Gwendolyn) Timmons, both of VanCouver, Washington; 18 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Gary, Harold and Steve Terrell, Edwin Nelson III, William Danker III and Andrew Greer.
