Effie M. Lower

Bronson, Iowa—Effie M. (Spink) Lower, 87, of Bronson died Monday, February 12, 1996, at Pleasant View Nursing Home.

Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Christy-Smith & Hockenberry Morningside Funeral Home with Dr. Robert E. Peters of Elliot Creek Presbyterian Church officiating.

Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 2 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Lower was born September 27, 1908, at Kingsley, Iowa, the daughter of Jay and Gussie Spink. She was a lifelong Siouxland area resident. On October 7, 1931 she married Fay Lower at Elk Point, S.D. He died in 1974 in Sioux City. She worked for the Woodbury Care Facility for more than 30 years.

Mrs. Lower was a member of Elliott Creek Presbyterian Church in Bronson.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Arlene and Pete Hinds of Bronson and Betty and Warren Griffith of Kingsley; a son, Robert Lower of Des Moines; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and two brothers, Frank Spink and Art and his wife, Berniece Spink, all of Sioux City.

She was also preceded in death by a brother, Bob, a sister, Dorothy and three grandchildren, Theresa, Randall and Richard Griffith.

Pallbearers will be grandsons, Everett Gunn, Robert Barker, Tom Dirks, Craig Hinds and Steve Griffith and a great-grandson, Travis Hinds.

Memorials may be made in care of the family.
