Dennis Peter Vis, 59, of Spokane, Mo., formerly of Sioux City, died Monday, Nov. 1, 2004, at his residence.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Kimberling City, Mo. Burial will be in Schupback Cemetery, Spokane. Cremation was under the direction of Whelchel Funeral Chapel in Branson, Mo.

Dennis was born July 11, 1945, the son of Johanna Hendrika (Beltman) and Jacobus Peter Vis, in Highland Park, Mich. His parents came to the United State from Holland. He was baptized in Holland. He graduated from Stella (Mo.) High School.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force, spending four years in Vietnam. He then served 10 years in the military reserves. He was a master plumber with Morningside Plumbing Inc. in Sioux City, with his wife, Cheryl, for 20 years. In 2001, after becoming ill with cancer, the family moved to the Branson area.

Survivors include his wife, Cheryl at home; five daughters, Chandra Messelhiser of Orange City, Iowa, Darnelle and her husband, Chris Chappel, of Bay City, Mich., Johanna and her husband, Michael Wodtke, of Springfield, Mo., and Jessica and Nicolle Vis, both at home; two sons, Charles Cox and his wife, Shannon of McCook Lake, S.D., and Daniel Vis; eight grandchildren; a brother and his wife, Jim and Glenda Vis of Flowery Branch, Ga.; his mother and father-in-law, Chick and Opaldene Clausen of Mallard, Iowa; special friends, Nicholle Collins and her son, Jacob; and his faithful dog, Angel.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
