CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa -- Mary Jane Miller, 83, of Correctionville died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at her residence.

Memorial services will be 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church in Correctionville, with the Rev. Sheryl Ashley officiating. The body was cremated. Burial will be at a later date in Correctionville Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City.

Mary Jane was the daughter of Samuel and Lois (Bisher) Worthan, was born Sept. 4, 1921, in Mankato, Minn. Her early childhood was spent in Chicago, Ill., then the family moved to the Correctionville area. She graduated from Correctionville High School and received her normal training. She taught in country schools in Woodbury and Ida Counties for several years.

She married Ray L. Miller on Feb. 7, 1942, in South Sioux City. The couple began farming in the Correctionville area in 1945. They moved into town after retiring in 1988.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and taught Sunday School for many years. She enjoyed doing needlework, gardening, flowers, reading and doing crossword puzzles.

Survivors include her husband, Ray L. Miller of Correctionville; three sons, Robert Miller and his wife, Candace, of Correctionville, Charles Miller and his wife, Kristy, of Moville, Iowa, and Steven Miller of Sheffield, Iowa; two daughters, Patricia Miller of Seattle, Wash., and Deborah and her husband, Ron Bauder, of South Sioux City; a half brother, George Menard of DeSota, Wis.; 12 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Doris Spychalski.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Hospice of Siouxland.
