Jack Edward Washinowski, 57, of Sioux City died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at a Sioux City hospital. He had fought a courageous battle with cancer for the last few years.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Christy-Smith Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil of Church of the Nativity officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Jack was born Sept. 9, 1947, in Worthington, Minn., the son of Eddie and Adeline (Preuss) Washinowski. He moved with his family to Sioux City in 1963, where he attended school. He worked for Goodwill Industries and later at Marian Health Center for 19 years.

He had a close relationship with his nieces and nephews. He loved all sports, especially football and professional wrestling. He was very fond of his pets and loved music. He was a devoted son to his mother.

Survivors include his mother, Adeline (Preuss) Washinowski of Sioux City; a sister and her husband, Joan and Mark O'Harrow of Sioux City; a brother and his wife, Jeff and Cindy Washinowski of Sioux City; and four nieces and nephews, Shea O'Harrow and his son, Riley O'Harrow of Austin, Texas, Keely O'Harrow of Sioux City, Seth Washinowski of Atlanta, Ga., and Amanda Washinowski of Sioux City.

He was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Skeets Washinowski, a long time regional band leader.
