Brian "Skinny" Hilts 1951 - 2017

Brian "Skinny" Hilts, 66, of Sloan, Iowa passed away on Saturday, November 11, 2017 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Memorial services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, November 16, 2017 at the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian, officiating. Visitation will be 5:00 P.M. – 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, November 15, 2017 with a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service in Onawa, Iowa.

Brian Mark was born on June 22, 1951, in Sioux City, Iowa the son of James Arthur "Tim" and Dorothea Maxine (Clift) Hilts. He attended school in Sloan and graduated from Westwood High School in 1970.

Brian and Tammy Lynn Rea were united in marriage on March 24, 1983 in Sioux City, Iowa. Three children were born to this union, Corey, Danielle, and Brianna.

Brian was employed by Sioux City Truck and Trailer in their parts sales department for 23 years, retiring in 2012.

He was an avid Lionel Model Train collector and big lover of John Deere. He enjoyed farming. He was meticulous with his yard which was his pride and joy. But above all, he loved spending time with his friends and family especially his children and grandchildren. He was a great family guy.

Brian was a member of Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy Hilts of Sloan, IA; his children, Corey (Lindsey) Hilts of Sloan, IA, Danielle (Larry) Schlines of Bronson, IA, and Brianna (Matthew) Riddle of Sloan, IA; grandchildren, Bella Hilts, Deacon Schlines, Adelynn Schlines, Claire Riddle, and Baby Boy Riddle due in December; his sister, Ronda (Tony) Rosenbaum of Sioux City, IA; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Dennis and Jean Rea of South Sioux City, NE; sister-in-law, Sandra (Stuart) Eickholt of Sioux City, IA; brother-in-law, Chad (Kari) Rea of Sioux City, IA; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and several aunts and uncles.
