Edward "Ed" J. Welte, 75, of Danbury, Iowa passed away Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at Banner Gateway Medical Center in Gilbert, Arizona.

Services will be held at a later date with burial in the Danbury Catholic Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Edward Joseph Welte was born August 6, 1942 in Danbury, Iowa the son of Gerald Joseph and Laura Ann (Collins) Welte. He grew up in Danbury and graduated from Danbury Catholic High School in 1960.

Edward "Ed" and Patricia "Pat" Louise Larson were united in marriage on May 23, 1964 at the Cathedral Church in Sioux City, Iowa. Two daughters were born to this union, Kelle and Kim.

Ed owned and operated Welte Vault Company in Danbury, Iowa where he devoted his time caring for many burials from 1972 until his retirement in 2002.

Ed and Pat have wintered in Arizona since 2003 and have met many good friends.

Ed was a lifelong member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Danbury, Iowa.

He enjoyed yardwork and gardening, casino trips, watching his grandson's sporting events and was a big sports fan especially Iowa Hawkeyes.

Survivors include his wife of fifty-three years, Patricia "Pat" Welte of Danbury, IA; daughters, Kelle (Tom) McCann of Arizona and Kim Welte of Arizona; two grandsons, Doug McCann of Bismarck, ND and Nick McCann of Bismarck, ND; siblings, Jean Burrus of Sioux City, IA, Mary Jo Person of Fargo, ND, Mike Welte of Sioux City, IA, Kay (Richard) Fritz of Dakota Dunes, SD, Tim (Robin) Welte of Danbury, IA and sister-in-law Verna Welte of Sioux City, IA; and many nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Laura (Collins) Welte; siblings, Evelyn (Lewis) Ahlwardt, Sarah Welte, Pat Welte, Dennis "Bing" Welte, and Joyce Jackson.
