Earle A. “Tubby” Kiehl, of Sioux City died Tuesday January 4, 2000 at a Sioux City hospital.

Services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, with the Rev. Douglas M. Klein officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 1 to 9 p.m. today, with the family present 6:30 to 8 p.m., a parish vigil service at 7 p.m. following by a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus Chalice Service, at Larkin Northside Funeral Home. The 4th Degree Knights of Columbus will provide a honor guard for the evening visitation.

Mr. Kiehl was born July 19, 1910 in Sioux City. He was raised by his mother and step-father, Ambrose and Mynne (Goebel) Curtis. He attended Central High School.

He married Jeannette M. Schumacher on December 20, 1935 in Le Mars, Iowa. She died August 11, 1975, in Sioux City. He married Helen Burcher on November 26, 1976 in Pierre, S.D.

He was a jeweler and co-owned the Kiehl-Schumacher Jewelers for 20 years. In 1969, he sold real estate and then from 1970 until his retirement in 1975, he worked for the Woodbury County Auditor Office.

He was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Epiphany Council, 743 3rd Degree Knights of Columbus and Garrigan Assembly 4th Degree Knights of Columbus. He was a former member of Morningside Country Club and enjoyed golfing and puzzles.

Survivors include his wife, a daughter and her husband, Jeanne and Tom Asmussen of New Berlin, Wisconsin, three grandchildren, Jennifer Hansmann, Christine and Shelby Asmussen and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Vernon.

Pallbearers will be Christian Asmussen, Wayne Hansmann, Greg Myerchin, Neal Asmussen, Bill McPherson and Tom Fennell.
