Area businessman Thompson dies

Craig H. Thompson, 64, of Sioux City, chairman of the board of Thompson Electric Co., died Saturday, December 25, 1999, at his winter home in St. Croix, Virgin Islands.

Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church with the Rev. F. Douglas Klein officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the family present from 7 to 9 p.m.

Mr. Thompson was born March 6, 1935, in Sioux City, the son of Alfred and Margaret (Smith) Thompson. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident.

He married Joan Gibson on May 21, 1983 in Sioux City.

He was a chairman of the board of Thompson Electric Co.

Survivors include his wife, one son, Craig H. Jr. of Sioux City; three daughters, Amy Zobrist and her husband, Arthur of Norfolk, Nebraska, Lisa Wissing of Phoenix and Debbie Livdahl of Chicago; one sister, Nancy Miller and her husband, Roger of McCook Lake, S.D., two step-sons Gregg Gibson and his wife, Cindy of Bonner Springs, Kansas and Jeff Gibson of Omaha; one step-daughter, Jill Walter and her husband, David of Galesburg, Illinois, 15 grandchildren and one great-grandson.

Memorials in his name may be directed to the Sioux City Boys Club, Girls Inc of Sioux City or the Siouxland Foundation.
