John G. Garbe, of Sioux City died Wednesday, December 29, 1999 at a Sioux City hospital following a short illness.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Redeener Lutheran Church with the Rev. Paul Sieveking officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Monday at St. John Cemetery in Charter Oak, Iowa. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. today at Nelson-Berger Morningside Chapel, with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7 p.m. with the Rev. Russell Senstad officiating.

Mr. Garbe was born December 27, 1906 in Charter Oak, the son of Herman and Elizabeth (Peters) Garbe. He farmed with his family on the family farm in Charter Oak until moving to Sioux City in 1944. He was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church.

Survivors include one brother, Herman Garbe of Denison, Iowa, one sister, Adela Baak of Sioux City, one niece, Lois Lewis and six nephews, Stephen, Richard and Bruce Garbe, Richard and Robert Meyer and James Nemitz.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Leonard Garbe, two sisters, Elsie Meyer and Agnes Nemitz and one nephew, Philip Nemitz.
