Elmer August Kragel, 73, 201 Leonard St. died Wednesday morning at his residence after a brief illness.

Mr. Kragel was born January 25, 1906 in Mapleton, Iowa. He married Lorena Fester April 30, 1933, in Ute, Iowa. After marriage he was a truck driver, later owning and operating his own trucking firm for several years. He farmed in Charter Oak and Ute, Iowa areas for several years before farming in Missouri for five years. He owned and operated the Kragel Variety Store in Sioux City for eight years, retiring in 1971.

Mr. Kragel was a member of Concordia Lutheran Church.

Survivors include the widow, two sons, Ronald D. of Aurora, Colo., and Larry of Flint, Mich., two daughters, Mrs. Ephraim (LaJune) Miller of Smithland, Iowa and Mrs. Norman (Arlene) Walker of Sioux City; a brother, Harry of Wheatland, Mo., and a sister, Mrs. Lorena Nathlich of Mapleton, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Services are pending at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel.
