Joyce Ann Schmidt, 77, of Tea, formerly of Sioux City, died Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2017, at a Sioux City hospital after fighting breast cancer.

Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Boniface Catholic Church, 703 W. Fifth St., in Sioux City. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, with the family present 6 to 8 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, 3220 Stone Park Blvd., in Sioux City. Joyce Ann, the daughter of Earl and Emma (Hebert) Ouellette, was born on July 8, 1940, in Burbank, S.D. The family lived in Sioux City and Joyce attended school at St. Boniface and Heelan High School. In her late teens, she moved to California and made her home there for three years until returning to Sioux City. For the past 28 years, Joyce lived in Tea. She worked as a cashier at Gordman's in Sioux Falls, S.D., for 25 years and for the past two years she worked at Lewis Drug, a job she truly enjoyed.

Joyce enjoyed gardening and her cats. Above all, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Joyce will be remembered as a hard worker who enjoyed being around people and being a jokester.

Joyce is survived by four children, Tina (Leslie) Van Holland of Hull, Iowa, Nancy (Terry) Doren of Newnan, Ga., David Schmidt of Sioux City, and Jeanine (Mike) Webb of Homer, Neb.; eight grandchildren, Nichole (Jamie) Hueschen, Joshua (Beth-Ann) Hodgen, Trevor Schubert, Trenton Van Holland, Callie Van Holland, Timothy Webster, Amie (Steven) Webster-Gabriel, and Zane (Shannon) Webb; seven great-grandchildren, Lyric, Hannah, Emma-Leigh, Sky-Leigh, Joshua, Autumn, and Kaiden; three sisters, Darlene Dickinson, Karen (Virgil) Hewitt, and Karlyn (Duane) Seney; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Robert and Don; and three sisters, Doris, Betty and Dorothy.
